With independence in 1975 Cabo Verde enacted a law on the state policy organization that functioned as a Constitution until the adoption of this Constitution on 5 September 1980, adopting the model of single party system planned economy; the National Statistical System was institutionalized in 1985 reflecting those models, that with the approval of the new Constitution were replaced in 1991 by multi-party democracy models and the open market economy with natural consequences in the reforms of the National Statistical System that occurred in 1996 and in 2009. At the time of Independence the laws of the colonial period\u00a0, with the official statistical activity governed by Decree No. 47168\/1966 of 26 August, which modified the organic structure of the statistical offices of the overseas provinces, and the Order of the Minister of Overseas of 6 December 1968, which integrated the Cabo Verde Statistics Services at the National Institute of Statistics of Portugal as its delegation, creating the Provincial Statistical Department of Cabo Verde.<\/p>\n
